Public Safety and Security
Rapid access to extensive data from multiple agencies and sources, displayed in its geographic context, helps public safety workforce to protect critical assets and diminish damages.
Visualisation of static and dynamic data from multiple agencies and sources in a geographic context is critical. It will help public safety workfoce to take the best decision when protecting assets, infrastructure and diminish the damages caused by natural and man-made disasters.
Our solution is currently used in many public safety and security applications such as:
- Emergency response operations
- Surveillance systems
- Command centres for search and rescue operations
- Border control systems
- Critical infrastructure protection
- Radio/Video planning systems
Sample Use Cases
Mission planning
Before a mission, understanding and using the environment to your advantage is crucial. Building an accurate 3D visualization of your mission site, using all available sources, is an important first step to help team leaders take the best decision. VirtualGeo is compatible with all necessary input formats to build the environment from common sources (maps, satellite imagery, terrain elevation, 3D models) and with all specific defence formats such as VMAP, USRP/ASRP. It also works with more advanced datasets: if you use photos and videos from various sensors and platforms, tools such as SmartCapture3D or PhotoScan generate quickly yet accurately reconstructed 3D models of the natural and man-made environment. VirtualGeo natively supports high resolution 3D models, merging them with all other available sources.
Event monitoring
Security management during public, professional or VIP events is critical given the diversity of risks and possible threats (accidents, fire breaking, thefts, aggressions, protests, crowd movements or even terrorist attacks). An optimal security system relies on a high knowledge of the event environment. VirtualGeo permits you to build a complete 3D representation of the event area by mixing cartographic data including building and interiors details. VirtualGeo proposes a special feature to geospatially reference the sensor feed in real-time: This significantly improves your situational awareness when the sensor imagery is draped on the underlying terrain.
Rescue operational systems
Rescue workers such as fire fighters often face a combination of threats that may induce disorientation: severe physical and mental stress, limited or no visibility, unknown layout of buildings. VirtualGeo permits to build systems with continuous members localisation in an environment. It helps other team members or team leaders to localize their colleagues at risk in case of incidents. Dedicated applications run on smartphones or tablets which display in 2D/3D the tactical situation to the team members with the optimal information according to the hierarchy level.
