Highlights
Publish your project for offline usage
Gather your project’s data files from different sources into a single package, for easy deployment on any mobile support or without network. To create a particular offline project, select your area of interest, a resolution level and different processing to apply on the published data.
The following processing are applied on your project's data :
- Copy Data: Extract data in your area of interest and copy the resulting files into the local package.
- Download Online Data : Retreive data diffused by a geographical server (WMS, WMS-C, WMTS, WFS, SQL) in your published area to make them available locally.
- Optimize Data: Optimize published data for fast visualization at different resolution levels.
- Archive Data: Group files per layer in an unique archive for easier deploiement.
High-resolution photo-textured 3D models import
Import directly high resolution 3D models created from simple photographs with automatic reconstruction tools such as SmartCapture3D or PhotoScan. Due to highly efficient VirtualGeo engine you can now visualize a large urban area with highly detailed textured 3D models in your application.
Georeferenced video on Terrain using STANAG 4609
Integrate a STANAG 4609 video stream directly into the 3D environment. Thanks to video metadata the stream is projected automatically over the same geographical area that is captured by the sensor.
Watch Video: Real-time mapping of video stream with STANAG 4609 metadata
Smooth raster transition
Smooth the transition when switching between raster level of details during navigation, espacially useful when working with non aerial imagery ( i.e OpenStreetMap). You have full control of the transition : activate it globally or by layer and choose a global transition duration.
Raster Contrast and Brightness
Modify on the fly the contrast and/or the brightness on your raster layer in order to improve its visual quality, and distinguish more details.
Performance improvements on Mercator display
Display directly your geographical data in a Web based Mercator map without costly reprojection. VirtualGeo now deforms directly geographical coordinates in the engine, at almost no cost, so you can mix easily your data with public data from the Web that are generally provided in Mercator projection.
Enhanced coordinate system grid
Performance to display geographical grid on the globe is now much improved. Support for the complex Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) used by NATO is also available. Grid visualization is now integrated in the Studio so you can easily add a grid in your project.
GRIB Data support
GRIB format (*.grb, *.grib2) are used to display historical and forecast weather data with advanced colour map visualization. The GRIB file contains many different images (called band), one for each sea level or physical measurement (wind speed, temperature, etc...). You can choose which band to display for your analysis.
Display Underground Data
VirtualGeo SDK now allows you to display objects under the terrain and navigate as usual. The user only needs to tag a particular layer as “Underground” and change the opacity of rasters to make them transparent
New drawing tools
The user experience for 2D Object creation is improved:
- New primitives: circle, ellipse and rectangle.
VirtualGeo provides now an easy to use tool to automatically draw circle, ellipse and rectangle in your project, and provides custom graphic editor to modify them.
- New Linear and Surface drawing modes:
The user can now choose between 2 modes when drawing a line on a long distance on the globe according to your domain requirements: Orthodromic (or great-circle) and loxodromic (or rhumb line). The orthodromic mode permits to draw a line between two points following the shortest distance on the globe. The Loxodromic mode permits to draw a line with a constant angle relative to north ( used in maritime field).
Label placement
A new algorithm, called “Decluttering”, has been introduced to improve readability of project with many labels. VirtualGeo removes label overlaps at any distance level to display only the most important ones. You can control label display by assigning a priority to each of them, based on a certain criteria ( i.e: according to population).
Java support in SDK
The VirtualGeo SDK is now available for Java developers. The Java API offers the same powerful possibilities as the C++ one. The VirtualGeo SDK for Java is available for Windows 32-bit, Windows 64-bit and Linux 64-bit platforms.
New Defence formats in SDK
Various Formats used in Defence projects have been added in this release:
- Dimap formats (*.dim) (http://www.spotimage.fr/dimap/spec/documentation/refdoc.htm)
- DNG formats (*.epu, *.pu)
- VPF format (MIL-STD-2407)
- ONC format which is part of the DTED specification (MIL-PRF-89)
